Healthy And Tasty Mint Chutney 

 

                    Mint is a popular herb that can be used or dried in many dishes.Mint oil is often used in toothpaste, gum, candy and beauty products. Mint is believed to have number of benefits like gives relief from seasonal allergy, relieves sore throat, common cold, indigestion, gas problems and etc…

                    Here i am going to present one of the best way to eat mint with rice.The whole process shown below step by step.

 


MINT CHUTNEY RECIPE :


PREP TIME : 10 Mins | COOK TIME : 10 Mins | TOTAL TIME : 20 Mins

RECIPE TYPE : Chutney

CUISINE : South Indian

SERVES : 4


INGREDIENTS :


  1. Mint Leaves / Fresh Pudina – 2 Full Cups
  2. Ground nuts / Pallilu – 1 Cup
  3. Red Chillies / Endu Mirapakayalu – 3 to 4 ( As per your taste you can also add green chili instead of red chili )
  4. Raw Tamarind / Chinthapandu – 2 to 3 pieces or Pulp
  5. Curry leaves and coriander leaves as sufficient
  6. Garlic cloves crushed or choped as sufficient ( optional )
  7. 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
  8. 1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
  9. 1 tsp. urad dal / minapa pappu
  10. Pinch of turmeric powder
  11. Salt for taste as needed
  12. 2 tbsp Oil as needed ( you can add more oil if needed )

 


HOW TO PREPARE THE RECIPE STEP BY STEP : 


  • Over medium flame, heat 2 tsp oil.
  • Add ground nuts and urad dal stir -fry till it turns golden brown.
  • Turn off the heat. As shown in below picture..

  • Add red chilies or green chilies and fry for few seconds. In this recipe i used green chilies As shown in below picture..

  • When the above mixture cools a bit ( but still warm ) add pudina leaves and mix it well till it fry a little

  • Let it cool for some time before grind.
  • Grind fried ground nuts, chilies, mint leaves, tamarind by adding little water and salt as required to a coarse paste.
  • Pour mint chutney (pudina pachadi ) into a serving bowl.


FOR THADKA : ( OPTIONAL )


  • Heat 1 tsp oil in separate pan for thadka.
  • Add mustard seeds and wait till they splutter.
  • Add this thadka to the mint chutney ( pudina pachadi ).
  • Serve with rice and ghee and enjoy the mint and groundnut flavour.
